CT800

Each speaker in the CT800 Series is a harmony of advanced audio technologies and specialised craftsmanship that has taken years of painstaking research and fine-tuning to perfect. We’ve borrowed technologies and ideas developed from our most sophisticated, audiophile-standard freestanding speakers, and adapted them for use in a cinema environment. That’s why we’re confident that a CT800 system will beat any cinema or home theatre sound system you’ve ever heard.

Main Channels

At the heart of our reference-standard cinema speakers are technologies borrowed directly from a speaker that demanding recording studios such as Abbey Road depend on to monitor the clarity and accuracy of their recordings – our flagship 800 Series. CT800 speakers feature the same twin Rohacell bass drivers, a Kevlar FST midrange driver, a metal dome high frequency tweeter and Matrix cabinet bracing for absolute rigidity.

In addition to this formidable technology, we’ve included a few special features and adaptations that make the CT800 ideally suited to home theatre environments. The CT8 DS surround speaker, for example, features side-facing Kevlar midrange/high frequency units along with forward-facing drivers to generate an authentically three-dimensional listening experience. In the CT8 LR front channel speaker and the CT8 CC centre speaker, the midrange and tweeter drivers are housed in a decoupled head unit that can be swivelled in different directions. That means you can point detailed treble effects directly towards your seating area, no matter how wide your screen or where your speakers are positioned.

Bass and Power

In conventional home theatre systems, the very low bass from the front channels is often squeezed into a single subwoofer. Not so in a CT800 system, where you can actively assign up to two subwoofers to any of the CT8 LR front channel speakers. You’re left with a much richer, more detailed bass, and a more natural sensation of space and ambience.

The CT8 SW subwoofer extends the front channel speaker’s bandwidth down to a jaw-dropping 13Hz, perfectly reproducing low frequency signals without compromising dynamics and imaging. Featuring closed-box loading, a 15" Rohacell driver and a 70-litre Matrix-braced enclosure, the CT8 SW is capable of handling the most demanding bass-heavy cinema sound effects with ease.

When you have bass this powerful, you need to be able to control it. Developed with world-leading audio component manufacturer Classé, the CT8 XO is an active bass management controller allowing installers to fine-tune the system’s bass output until it’s perfectly suited to the dimensions and acoustics of your theatre environment.

For a system using either the CT8.2 LCR or CT8.4 LCRS in front, side and rear channels, the bass channel should be provided by one of our CT SW subwoofer models.

CT 8.2 LCR

The CT8.2 LCR is the latest addition to the very successful CT800 Series. Its unique modular baffle design allows for it to be used as a LCR speaker in either vertical or horizontal positions.

The CT8.2 LCR: twin Paper/Kevlar® bass drivers, a woven Kevlar® FST™ midrange driver and a metal dome high frequency driver in a passive crossover design.

Custom Installation options

Not all of us have the luxury of a dedicated home theatre room large enough to accommodate a full CT800 system. So it’s useful to know that, with the CT800 Series, you have the option of combining the system with speakers in our Custom Installation range. Designed to fit flush into wall or ceiling cavities, Custom Installation speakers make a good – and equally discreet – substitute for CT800 surround speakers in positions where space for cabinets is limited.

For in-wall speakers, you could choose between the CWM 8180, with its high-end spec including a Kevlar FST midrange driver and 200mm Rohacell bass driver, or the CWM DS8, which can switch between dipole and conventional surround modes at the push of a remote-control button. In-ceiling options include the highly adjustable CCM 817, or the CCM 818, which combines great sound directionality with a 200mm Kevlar cone.
